Not best time of year due to overgrowth and everything(!) having thorns.

Things still look very similar to your photos from 2015:
https://imgur.com/a/tFqy57E

Didn't manage to locate the ruins of a stone built garden wall and the machinegun position. You can read more about it in my book Battle for Hong Kong December 1941 available on Amazon. If you email me your grandfather's name (email address at top on banner) I will see if have any additional info on him. My guess is that he served with No 1 Coy HKVDC. He mentioned that two other soldiers were bayoneted in the verandah of the villa . HE escaped with bayonet wounds to his back and managed to swim back to Stanley. I live in America and I just found this blog which my friend recommended because he had heard about my grandfather's experienceAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379962256741902605.post-34988444919247384622018-01-17T15:20:59.521-08:002018-01-17T15:20:59.521-08:00Hi j-hova: You can get in from the reservoir end a...Hi j-hova: You can get in from the reservoir end and then along an overgrown path sloping upwards along the ridge. We went up from the road junction (Tai Tam X Roads) about 10 metres down the road to Tai Tam Tuk by taking one of the slope maintenance ladders. Don't be put off by the concrete slopework - just find a way using the ladders to get up on to the mound. The aerial photos in my post will help. Its all very overgrown although now would be a good time to go up there. It seems like from the old aerial map, where the drive begins across the reservoir is now all concrete reinforced slopes... j-hovahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08541302607922927549noreply@blogger.com
